Here’s a simple and delicious cream cheese frosting recipe that pairs wonderfully with red velvet cupcakes or any other dessert that could use a creamy, tangy topping.

Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups (360 g) powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Blend Cream Cheese and Butter: In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to blend the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth and creamy. Ensure both ingredients are at room temperature for best results.
  2. Add Powdered Sugar: Gradually add the powdered sugar to the mixture, one cup at a time. After each addition, blend well to ensure the sugar is fully incorporated.
  3. Add Vanilla: Once all the sugar is added and the mixture is smooth, mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. Adjust Consistency: If the frosting is too thick, you can add a teaspoon of milk to thin it out. If it’s too thin, add a little more powdered sugar until you reach the desired consistency.
  5. Use or Store: Use the frosting immediately to frost cupcakes, cakes, or cookies. If not used right away, the frosting can be stored in the refrigerator. Before using, let it come to room temperature and give it a quick stir to ensure it’s spreadable.

This recipe yields about 3 cups of frosting, enough to generously frost 12 cupcakes or a medium-sized cake. You can easily halve the recipe for a smaller batch or double it for larger projects. Enjoy your baking and frosting!
