Valentine’s Day Heart-Shaped Sugar Cookies

Simple yet sweet, these sugar cookies are cut into heart shapes and decorated with pink and red icing. They’re a fun and customizable treat, perfect for both baking and gifting.
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Icing pink and red for decoration
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a small bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla.
Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into heart shapes with cookie cutters.
Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets and bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
Let cool completely before icing.
