Valentine’s Day Heart-Shaped Sugar Cookies

Simple yet sweet, these sugar cookies are cut into heart shapes and decorated with pink and red icing. They’re a fun and customizable treat, perfect for both baking and gifting.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Icing pink and red for decoration

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a small bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  • Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  • Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into heart shapes with cookie cutters.
  • Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets and bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Let cool completely before icing.
