Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ pounds pizza dough store-bought or homemade
  • 2 cups marinara or pizza sauce
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese optional
  • 1 ½ cups cooked and crumbled Italian sausage or pepperoni slices
  • 1 ½ cups sautéed vegetables peppers, onions, mushrooms, or your favorites
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil to grease the skillet

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Prepare the filling by mixing marinara sauce, cooked sausage, sautéed vegetables, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning in a large bowl.
  • Grease a 10-inch cast iron skillet with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  • Pour the filling into the skillet, spreading it evenly to cover the bottom.
  • Top the filling with 3 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese and a sprinkle of Parmesan for extra flavor.
  • Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to a circle slightly larger than the skillet.
  • Drape the dough over the skillet, tucking the edges down the sides to seal the filling inside.
  • Cut small slits in the dough to allow steam to escape during baking.
  • Brush the dough with a beaten egg for a shiny, golden crust.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and puffed.
  • Cool for 5–10 minutes before serving to let the filling set slightly.
