Ingredients

  • 1 pound pizza dough store-bought or homemade
  • 1 ½ cups marinara or pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese optional
  • 1 cup cooked and crumbled Italian sausage or pepperoni slices
  • 1 cup sautéed vegetables peppers, onions, mushrooms, or your favorites
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 egg for egg wash

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Prepare the filling by combining marinara sauce, cooked sausage, sautéed vegetables, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning in a medium bowl.
  • Grease 4 ramekins with a little olive oil or non-stick spray.
  • Divide the filling evenly among the ramekins, filling each about ¾ of the way.
  • Top the filling in each ramekin with ½ cup of shredded mozzarella cheese and a sprinkle of Parmesan, if desired.
  • Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface and cut into 4 circles slightly larger than the ramekins.
  • Place the dough circles over each ramekin, tucking the edges around the dish to seal.
  • Cut small slits in the top of each dough circle to allow steam to escape during baking.
  • Brush the dough lightly with a beaten egg to create a golden, shiny crust.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and puffed.
  • Cool for 5 minutes before serving to allow the filling to set slightly.
